What is Career Transition and Outplacement?
In response to changes in organisations that result in redundancy, Career Transition and Outplacement Services are designed to provide a framework for “best practice” redundancy management. They also offer a “safety net” for employees post redundancy though critical support and information to help them make the transition to their next job as easily as possible.

PsychWorks Partnership’s assistance is for both the employer, in formulating a process and strategy for redundancy, and in providing practical help to the employees at the time of redundancy. Career Transition services are also available for employees who are offered voluntary redundancies where the organisation is attempting to reduce staff through natural attrition or incentives to leave.

Why offer services to employees who are leaving?
In some cases Unions or other employee representatives will negotiate Career Transition services as part of an overall redundancy package to employees. However there are more compelling reasons for employers to offer this service including:

Sending a clear message to both retained and redundant employees that the organisation takes its responsibilities to all employees seriously

Recognising the contributions that employees have made to the business while employed there

Minimising any legal repercussions by helping former employees look forward rather than look backward for redress

Demonstrating to the community and customers that the business behaves responsibly in these circumstances. (This is particularly important in regional areas) These services demonstrate to the community and customers the way an organisation “lives out its values” in such circumstances

What’s involved?

PsychWorks Partnership offers delivery of Career Transition and Outplacement services to employees from all industries. This might involve adjustment counselling, group and individual job search skills training (resume preparation, interviewing skills etc) and career direction services for displaced employees or those thinking about voluntary redundancy.

Change management workshops to help workers cope with emotional reactions, stress and fears about their future are often incorporated into our programs.

We consult to organisations in the early stages of their redundancy plans to deliver strategic and tactical input into the design and structure of a redundancy program through to delivery of post-redundancy support for the employees.

Our programs are tailored to a range of industry groups and we work with tradespeople, administration staff, professionals and supervisors through to the most senior executives in a business.
